Asbestos Inspector Certificate
The license information below is specific to the state of Minnesota.
This license applies to the following occupations:

Description
Requirements
An individual applying for certification as an asbestos inspector must show evidence of either:
1) Work experience of least 500 hours in the field of building inspection, asbestos-related work, safety, industrial hygiene, or hazardous materials control;
2) Completion of an apprenticeship program within the general commercial construction trades approved by the Minnesota Department of Labor and Industry, Division of Voluntary Apprenticeship, or registered with the United States Department of Labor, Bureau of Apprenticeship and Training;
3) Licensure by Minnesota as a building official;
4) A bachelor's degree in architecture, engineering, industrial hygiene, industrial technology safety, or physical or life science, and 40 hours of on-site asbestos inspection experience accompanying a Minnesota-certified asbestos inspector; or
5) Registration or certification as a registered architect, licensed professional engineer, certified industrial hygienist, or certified safety professional.
An individual certifying as an asbestos inspector must include with a completed Asbestos Certification Application:
1) An affidavit of Experience Required for Asbestos Certification and/or submit documentation of other required qualifications.
2) Include a photocopy of your training course diploma(s). You must have completed a Minnesota approved initial or refresher training course within the past year.
3) Include a clear photograph of yourself. It must show your head and upper shoulders occupying an area of 1 inch by 1 inch. Do not cut the photo to size. Write your name on the back of the photo.

Include a cashier's check or money order, made payable to the Minnesota Department of Health. Do not send cash. Personal checks are not accepted. This fee is not refundable.
